About Xtreme clutch
Xtreme Clutch is an Australian performance clutch brand developed by Australian Clutch Services, a company that has been designing and manufacturing clutches and flywheels since the late 1980s. Their kits are known for combining strong torque capacity with good drivability, which is why they’re used in everything from street cars to race cars and heavy 4x4s.
They put a lot of work into in‑house testing and development, tailoring each kit to suit specific vehicles and how they’re actually used, towing, touring, off‑road or performance. That engineering focus is exactly what you want when you’re asking a clutch to deal with extra weight, slow crawling and hot conditions for long stretches at a time.
Xtreme clutch contribution
As part of the build, we’re swapping out the original 4‑speed gearbox for an HJ60 5‑speed to make the Cruiser more relaxed and usable over long distances. With the gearbox coming out, it was the perfect time to retire the 42‑year‑old clutch, which has well and truly done its job, and upgrade to something that matches where this truck is heading.
Xtreme Clutch are donating a heavy‑duty clutch kit designed to handle the extra weight we’re carrying, long distance stints and the hot Aussie climate we’ll be travelling through. That means more confidence pulling away fully loaded, less chance of slip when things get tough, and a driveline that’s ready for the kind of touring this old 40 is about to see
The experience with Xtreme clutch
We met Kevin from Xtreme Clutch at the 4WD show in Adelaide, and that’s where the whole thing started. After chatting about the Cruiser, the gearbox swap and what we’re trying to do with this project, he really took the time to understand our needs rather than just suggesting something off the shelf.
From there, Kevin took care of organising a clutch setup that would genuinely make us safer and more reliable on the road for longer, not just “good enough for now”. He’s been thoughtful, helpful and proactive throughout the process, and we’re incredibly grateful for the effort he’s put into making sure we’re sorted before we roll out.

Xtreme Clutch came on board simply because they wanted to support what we’re doing, from the heart rather than for show. They saw a project built around adventure, purpose and community, and decided they could play a quiet but crucial role in keeping it moving.
By backing us with a heavy‑duty clutch, they’re helping ensure the old Cruiser can carry the load, literally and figuratively, as we take this story further down the road.
